Locusts ![]() There's a pocket of green across the way that's almost too small to be called a park. Nothing fancy - a few benches and a planter or two, but given the proximity of Golden Gate, it's small potatoes. On most days, it's a dog park. Early mornings and late afternoons are a frenzy of activity with the local pooches buffooning around while their owners await awkwardly to scoop any doggy detritus. Yesterday morning was something altogether different. Our little park, otherwise known as the Sunset Tunnel Park, played host to the ninth annual Cole Valley Easter Egg Hunt. An egg hunt complete with Easter Bunny! The typically poop festooned park was instead adorned with hundreds of multi-coloured plastic eggs. A slim cord restrained the growing crowd of unruly pint sized hooligans who waited impatiently for the bunny's signal. And what had them all riled up? Those seemingly harmless plastic eggs contained chocolate. Ah chocolate! If I wasn't amongst my new neighbours, I might have elbowed my way to the front to improve my odds of collecting a few for their hidden treasure. Have you ever been to an Easter Egg hunt? This was my first. And what does an Easter egg hunt resemble? A plague of locusts. I kid you not. Those kiddies picked the park clean of every hidden (and not so hidden) egg within five minutes. There's got to be some way to harness all that energy. The day before yesterday? All your mirror are belong to us. |
