While we here at harrumph! are pleased to acknowledge our heros, we're less thrilled about the zeros. Ladies and gentlemen, without any further ado, please give a warm round of applause to our first zero:
Nick Denton
Nick has garnered this honour with his refusal to remove a photograph of mine from his site. Nick launched his gallery of blog rogues last year and chose to illustrate Jish with a photo that I'd taken back in 2000 when we met for lunch.
Had Nick first requested permission or even credited the source, I'd be a happy camper. We did have a little back and forth in email and it was my understanding that he would remove the photo in question. He didn't. Come 2003 and my conversion to a Creative Commons license, I informed him earlier in the week that he could continue to post the image, but it must be credited. My email was ignored. As we share a mutual host, I've contacted them in the hopes that they can resolve this issue.
I'm disappointed. Nick considers himself a player in the field yet he doesn't respect the work of others, and for this,
he receives the inaugural harrumph! Zero.
Update 13:05: The images have been removed.
